Welcome to Highlands, NC!

Take a mountain weekend with us!

We’ve chosen Highlands, NC as our home base for the weekend. Below are some travel tips, places to stay and how to get around. Also notable is Cashiers, NC which has a bit less to do, but also lovely! Nearby Asheville, NC is the biggest city in the area with tons to do/see, but it’s about an hour away.

Lodging

Hotels:

Highlander Mountain House: $$$ Very cool, very cute, a little funky and right in town. Rooms here are limited and some are a bit small. If you’re hip, you’ll get down with this place. There is a bar and coffee bar in the lobby.

Outpost Inn: $$$ Sister hotel to Highlander Mountain House. Also very central to downtown Highlands. The vibe is really cool and rooms are more suite style with fireplaces and some units have kitchens. There is also coffee shop in the lobby.

Trailborn Highlands: $$ A really cute and cool spot, but with more centralized hotel comforts. There is a restaurant in the back and most rooms are pet friendly up to 40 lbs. It’s still in downtown, but maybe a 5-10 minute walk to the real heart of things.

Hotel Cashiers: $ Revamped hotel in Cashiers, which is about 15 min from Highlands. There are a few things to do here, but you’ll have to make your way over to Highlands to hop on the shuttle.

Hampton Inn & Suites Cashiers-Sapphire Valley: $ A very nice Hampton Inn. The most hotel-y hotel in town if you don’t want anything funky.

Airbnbs:

We don’t have any specific ones to recommend, but there are tons around the Lake Glenville/Cashiers/Highlands area. If you’re bunking with a group, find a cute little cabin and spread out! Keep in mind our activities are more central to Highlands so you’ll have to get there to hitch a ride and celebrate with the crew.
